Sit back and have a little look at this phenomenal Chelsea Flower Show Dress by Larry Walshe which kicked off last month’s RHS Chelsea Flower Show. Wow.
Having been commissioned for the second time by title show sponsor M&G Investments, floral alchemist Larry Walshe created this incredible dress made of over 2,000 fresh stems.
This astonishing dress features over 2,000 real Peruvian ferns, Spray Roses, Achillea, Alstroemeria, Dahlia & Gloriosa. Larry Walshe is one of Britain’s foremost luxury floral designers. His lavish, abundant use of texture and colour, coupled with a distinctive vision delivers opulent, memorable and dramatic designs that transform weddings and events both in the UK and abroad.
Crafted from a skeleton of raw steel by skilled artisans, this dress assumes a timeless and theatrical silhouette whilst seamlessly integrating a contemporary approach through the use of progressive techniques and modern innovation. The bodice works to create a flattering shape whilst the crinoline below adds a rigid notion that echoes the masculinity of the Cleve West garden design. The organic way in which this veritably “grows” up and around the dress adds delicacy and sensitivity to the brash skeleton beneath. Leaving an element of the crinoline untouched affords a wonderful sense of light and shade and really works to celebrate this modern design.
Larry Walshe commented “Being the first designer to be commissioned on more than one occasion to create this magnificent floral dress for M&G is an absolute honour.”
We would like to thank Kate Nielen and Urban Cinematography for allowing us to feature their images and film of Larry Walshe and his astonishing creation on our blog.
