Today we begin a series of posts introducing some of the wonderful venues in Jersey available for weddings, parties and other events, starting with one of the most stunning Jersey venues – Mont Orgueil Castle.
Mont Orgueil Castle is one of the best preserved castles in Britain and is one of our favourite sights, especially when lit up in the evening.
A beloved Jersey Heritage site, it is an absolutely stunning backdrop if you are looking for a castle wedding and offers gorgeous coastal views right across to France and multiple focal points for photographs.
The castle was built in the 13th century to protect Jersey from the French and towers majestically above the pretty harbour town of Gorey to the east of the island.
You can have a civil ceremony in the candlelit Medieval Great Hall or a religious ceremony inside the Chapel of St George or at an outside altar.
Thereafter, you have many options for your drinks reception including the Grand Battery and the de Carteret Garden.
Your wedding breakfast and reception may take place either in a marquee or you have a variety of room choices inside the castle itself.
Whatever you choose, your day cannot fail to look spectacular and the images you will be left with will wow your Grandchildren in years to come.
