Next in our short, sharp series on couples’ wedding worries is something we are frequently asked – who will walk me down the aisle?
In fact, sadly, what many of our lovely brides have asked over the years is more along the lines of ‘am I allowed to ask …’ or ‘is it OK if so and so walks me down the aisle?’.
Getting married is a big deal for anyone, and for many having everyone’s eyes on you as you walk down the aisle can be really, truly daunting.

Bride and proud Dad walk down the aisle
Whereas tradition has the Father of the Bride ‘giving her away’, today this is often not feasible, or occasionally desirable, depending upon your personal and family situation.
Our advice is to do what feels most comfortable rather than add any more nerves or worry to your day.
Think best friend, Mum, son or daughter, even the Father of the Groom ……. who will make it the most special and memorable for you? Over the years we have seen everything, including a very confident Bride who chose to walk alone, a couple who entered their ceremony together and a bride who rode half way down the aisle of her outdoor ceremony on her beloved horse.
Enjoy it and make it special to you, not just ‘what was expected’.
Happy planning from Team Tern!
